Calcite, Sphalerite, from the Cumberland Mine (Tennessee). Xcellent UVAsthetically pleasing medium cabinet specimen from the Cumberland Mine in Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, located just a few miles north of the world famous Elmwood Mine. The Cumberland Mine is still an active zinc mine and field collecting is not allowed. This is an old collection piece, specifically noted to be Drift 16 5 3, which was a horizontal tunnel cut into the rock to access a veinand known for producing spectacular, UV reactive specimens.
